Senior Backend Engineer (Distributed Systems)
About the role
TrackLayer needs a backend engineer to own the distributed systems behind ingestion, routing, replay, and delivery guarantees. You will work close to customer evidence and make the platform boringly reliable at high event volume.
What you'll do
- Design services for event ingestion, queueing, replay, and platform delivery.
- Improve latency, durability, and observability across critical paths.
- Partner with product and customer teams on enterprise-scale requirements.
- Write operational runbooks and make incidents easier to diagnose.
What we're looking for
- Deep experience building distributed backend systems in production.
- Strong judgment around data consistency, backpressure, and failure modes.
- Comfort with TypeScript, Go, Rust, Java, or similar backend languages.
- Clear written communication and ownership of outcomes.
Bonus points
- Experience with customer data platforms, warehouses, or ad platform APIs.
- Background with Kafka, ClickHouse, Postgres, or high-cardinality telemetry.
Compensation
- Base: $200k-$280k
- Equity: 0.05%-0.2%
